Iraq's cabinet discussed changes to a hard-fought security pact with the United States, as opposition to the pact grows in Baghdad and U.S. officials warn time is running short for agreement.
The stories are almost comical: Cartoon characters Mickey Mouse and Donald Duck, registered to vote in the U.S. presidential election on Nov. 4.
Keira Knightley is happy to reign as Hollywood's current queen of the costume drama. She just wishes that playing dress-up in period outfits could be a bit more comfortable.
SCHWANNOMIN- I wrote a reply on Gov. Perry of Texas, sending the Texas Rangers to the border. I accidentally put your name on it, I APOLOGIZE. It should of had someone Else's name but now i can not find it or yours. I think they were taken all down. Please tell me if you can find them or not. Have a good weekend. DALLASNICK
I hear everyone talking about gas mileage and that is reasonable but have you figured out the true cost??
20,000 miles per year @ 22 mpg -909 gallons of gas @ 2.31 per gal = $2100.
20,000 miles per year @ 28 mpg - 714 gallons of gas @2.31 per gal = $1649
The difference is $451 per year. But, yet everyone will spend thousands of dollars more for a "hybrid" or worry about even 35 mpg - my 1998 Olds 88 gets 28 mpg and I paid a whole lot less for this used car. Go out to dinner 10 times and you have spend close $451 for those ten dinners. We are focusing on the wrong things when we worry about gas mileage at times.
We listen to too much media hype and they not objective but subjective for certain clients.
WAKE UP AMERCA - YOU ARE BEING LED DOWN A STUPID PATH. I will take my bigger cars and safer cars than these goofy little death traps.
I liked your comment about Cuba being pissed off. That was very funny.
The whole concept of assault weapons is a myth. They are semi-auto (not auto) weapons that look mean. Have a bayonet holder, have a sling and a big magazine. They are not easily used in crime, a pistol is much better and if an enterprising person can for the right money get their hands on a full automatic. The ones that a criminal could get would already be illegal.
I liked your comment on madoff. I belive he should have to sell everything he, and his wife owns, pay back an = % to all who lost, ( based on the proceeds ) repent of his sins, and make his own decision on how or wether he'll pay back the rest. We all need to remember " He who is without sin cast the first stone "
Hi Schwan,
It will be an honor and privilege to be your friend. I have long admired your ability to think for yourself and not have to follow the group!
I look forward to having lots of Healthy Discourse with you from now and into the future.
Your Friend,
Wilberta
Sorry, but I just have to say this.......High school diploma or not, the Palin women have excellent taste in men. Ok, now we can get back to the important stuff.
I am a Democrat. I fully intended to cast my vote for Hillary Clinton. All of the candidates were EXPERIENCED, except one, Obama. One by one the men who were running for the highest office dropped out and gave their support to Obama. Obama, a Jr. Senator with one year under his belt. The question was why? The answer was, the Democrats knew that Hillary would win, and that they would not tolerate! Obama was thrown in as a "ringer." Give him the "catch phrase" YES WE CAN. Well, guess what? That phrase was taken from a kiddie show called BOB THE BUILDER. Bob would say (Can we fix it?) and all of his little friends would chime in, (Yes we can!!)
Historical, the media called it. One woman and one African American running for the Presidency. Shortly after that announcement, the media started slamming and mocking Hillary Clinton. The DNC repeatedly asked her to drop out of the race. Until finally at the convention, she did. It was a shame, she would have made a great President and she would have made a difference!
I will give him credit, he can memorize a script and deliver a dynamic speech of hope and change. But what exactly will he change? What exactly will he be allowed to change? The answer is not very much, and that reason is Washington is Washington-----all talk and very little action. It will not change because you and his followers think he is a charming, appealing person.
MSNBC and CNN are in the tank with Obama, and they have been from the very beginning. Who could forget Chris Matthews commenting after Obamas speech, "My leg just got all tingly!" Oberlman spewing his venom about Hillary!
Fox News, to its credit, has brought up for months now about the Bill Ayers connection. Obama said that they just lived in the same neighborhood. The Rev. Wright and his horrific radical racial comments, (The Obamas attended this church for 20 years), the shady sweetheart real estate deal he got from the guy who is being investigated, and the crazy Catholic Priest. There is a pattern with whom Obama associated with.
Now we have had for the past week in Ohio, with the help of the Obama campaign, busing loads of people to register to vote and then casting their vote the same day. Today's news, homeless people are provided transportation and they are told to vote for Obama. Do they get a free meal and a couple of bucks for their vote? Hot news flash! Third World countries headed by Dictators use this tactic.
Two weeks ago, John McCain was slammed by the news media and Obama, because he headed back to Washington to do what he was elected to do, sit in on the meetings involving the seven hundred billion dollar bailout for wallstreet. Obama had to follow after stating that "If they need him they can call him!!"
The three page bill that the Democratic Congress wanted passed, bit the dust. Why? Giving one man access to seven hundred billion dollars with no oversight was a bit too much for anyone to swallow, including twelve members of Barney Franks committee!
The bill was revamped, but this time it passed. Guess what? Today, October 6, 2008, after all of the gloom and doom from Congress about the dire consequences if it wasn't passed, stocks are crashing not only here but around the world.
I am also sick of hearing that Gov. Sarah Palin would be only a heartbeat away from the Presidency, and that she lacks the experience to take over if need be. Let's look at Obama shall we? Where is his experience? He was never a governor or a mayor, he was a community organizer. I believe he worked with ACORN. As we all know, that group is under investigation for voter fraud.
Pres. George W. Bush needed classes in Presidential 101, and he was a Governor. Ronald Reagan needed classes, he was a Governor, Bill Clinton needed classes, he was a Governor. So, if need be, why not Sarah Palin, who is also a Governor?
During the VP debate, Senator Joe Biden said that if Obama is elected, he would be sitting in the Oval Office advising him. Interesting don't you think?
Polls are another interesting item. Take 100 here and 1,000 there and it is supposed to give you a reading of how the entire state will vote! We'll see.
Anyway, as I said, I am a Democrat who will be voting Republican. This country has major problems, with health care, economy, infrastructure, two wars and fuel and our status in the world. I know what I am getting with McCain, and believe me it is not another Bush/Cheney (no one could equal that mess) I however don't know very much about Obama and what I do know I do not like at all.
To make Obama President based on the "historical event", being the first African American to hold that office, and become the most powerful person in the civilized world, would be wrong. Experience does matter.
